SUPER SIMPLE FLATBREAD PIZZA DOUGH RECIPE
1 cup + ½ cup flour or gluten-free flour mix
1/2 tbls baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup water
1 tbs olive oil
Optional herbs: garlic powder fennel, red pepper, fenugreek
Mix 1 cup flour with remaining dry ingredients together with a fork. Add the oil and water, mix to a ball, it will be sticky at this stage. Remove from the bowl and knead on a floured surface, adding additional flour until no longer sticky.
Cover dough under a kitchen towel and let rest for 30 minutes.
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Heat a skillet or a flat pan. Pull the dough into 4 balls. Roll each dough out on a floured surface, ensuring the dough is not sticking to the counter. Shake off extra flour then place on the hot skillet. The bottom will become golden and bubbles will form on the top. Flip and cook on the other side.
Use as a bread, or set on a sheet pan and add pizza toppings. Place into the oven until the toppings are melty and the crust is crispy.
~makes 4 small pizzas~
NOTE: Use as a ‘naan’ bread or a pizza dough. If you like your dough crispier- cook longer.
For gluten free versions, I have used NuLife and Namaste GF flour blends and both worked great.
