Spring forward like a warrior with me.
Fall and winter months are so deceiving. Sure, they feel inviting at first with their colorful leaves and comfy clothes, but then October rolls in with candy disguised as super hero’s and princess’s. And November straight up insists on pumpkin pie, marshmallow-topped spuds and pounds of stuffing. December is alluring in the beginning, filled with sugar-plum fairies and sparkly holiday cookies. Then January hits with mugs of whipped cream dripping over melting chocolate. Just when you think you’re out of it, Valentines day (aka: chocolate day) blind sides you with heart-shaped boxes of broken dreams. Then Easter hops in from nowhere and hides little crème-filled eggs all over the house.
The one thing constant through all that is SUGAR.
It takes its toll, and not just in regard to weight. Sugar get’s under our skin. We crave it when we are lonely, bored or sad. When we ingest it we feel happy … momentarily, but then we become guilty, cranky, fidgety, moody, dry, tired, anxious and heavy. Our minds become powerless as bacteria [in our body] takes over and ultimately we end up craving even more of it!
It’s not your fault. Sugar is in EVERYTHING! It’s very hard to completely avoid. For instance, did you know there as much sugar in the average jarred pasta sauce as there is in 2 mini Snickers bars? Americans consume an average of 150 pounds of refined sugar per year!!! Whoa!?
Time to take squash those cravings and replenish our cells with nutrient-dense foods. Enter the 7-day Spring Fling!
What is the 7-day Spring Fling?
The 7-day Spring Fling is seven days of nutrient dense foods to boost our immunity, release winter drag and combat sugar consumption.
Out of all the things we ingest, sugar is the one that can do the most damage. Aside from diabetes, heart issues, tooth decay, saggy skin and decreased brain function, energy and immunity, studies have even shown that cancer likes to feed off the sugar in our bodies. This last point can be a confusing statement so let’s take a moment to explain that eating sugar doesn’t necessarily lead to cancer; it’s what sugar does to your waistline/body that can lead to cancer.
