Holiday desserts – do you approach them with an all or nothing gusto? Both ends of that spectrum is challenging.
Going for broke or throwing caution to the wind and eating everything is going to bring about inflammation and weight in the body as well as low energy, restless sleep and a bit of moodiness. But not allowing yourself to indulge in even one little bite builds a different set of mental and physical issues as well.
Thankfully there are better options. When you cook, or bake, with nutrient-dense foods you get more nutrients, it satisfies you sooner, and you don’t have to swallow any guilt.
I created these delectable Apple Pie on a Stick bites for the Cap Strat Womens Forum Holiday SoirĂ©e and for a friends going away party – they were such a hit! It’s super simple too. I served little bites of apple on toothpicks, but you could skip the toothpicks and just serve in a big bowl. Either way they will be all drizzled with my apple cinnamon caramel sauce and gluten free granola so you can’t loose.
Indulge in healthy this year! Take a photo and share on social media- tag me and show me how you served them.
Happy Eating,

dairy free caramel apple bites
Apple Cinnamon Caramel Sauce
Grain-free Granola
Fresh Apples
lemon + water
Toothpicks
Squeeze fresh lemon into a bowl of water. Cut the apples: cut into 4ths, core, cut into 8 slices and then cut in half horizontally. You’ll have 16 pieces. Place all the cut apples into the lemon water to keep them from browning.
Have a pretty platter ready. Push an apple piece onto a toothpick, set onto the platter. Continue until all the apples are on the platter. Drizzle each apple with the caramel sauce. Sprinkle with granola. Serve.
For a more rustic approach, chop the apple and place in a bowl. Drizzle with the caramel sauce then scatter the granola on top. Place a serving spoon and small bowls next to it.
